EVENING WEAR

DESIGNED AND PHOTOGRAPHED BY LAUREN SULLIVAN

This collection is inspired by the delicate and soft features of a bride. My goal was to create a look that was sexy, yet sweet and delicate. With sculpted bodices accompanied by oversized dramatic sleeves and array of light neutrals, these designs are meant to be understated yet bold. Highly inspired by the neoclassical time period, I used tulle as the main fabric which acts as the key to capturing these delicate looks of a modern princess.

Design Process.

In the Making.

Below is a series of the behind-the-scenes photos that display the process of these garments. I utilized draping as my leading technique in order for these garments to fit the body properly with a clean and sculpted look. For this collection I envisioned a soft tulle, gathered and pleated in a way to flatter the female figure by creating a focal point from the small of the waist through the widening of the hips.

Ideally, I had to create a way for tulle to give a ruched effect all while keeping it flat against the body, without any unwanted puckers. To achieve this look, I manipulated the tulle by using a steam press to create each individual tuck and pleat, as I would then pin and sew them to the base layer fabric to give the illusion of a ruched look.

Research & Inspiration.

Through the research process for this collection, I became inspired by the Neoclassical time period. From soft tulle, silk and ribbons, to the drama of a corset, my imagination slowly unraveled the idea of a modern day princess. Through the process of this collection, I kept elegance, softness and femininity as the key components to creating the perfect ambience for these looks.

To support the concept of this collection, I decided to stick to an array of soft neutrals to create a calm, and sophisticated look throughout each design.
